River Ridge is a public middle/high school complex founded in 1991 in New Port Richey, Florida. It was Florida's first joint middle/high school complex and is a part of the Pasco County School System. Both schools have their own classrooms, media center, and administrators, and share the cafeteria as well a theater, administrative offices, gymnasium, and athletic facilities. The complex is the largest school in Pasco County. The school mascot is the "Royal Knight" and their school colors are purple and silver.

Extra-curricular activities

River Ridge has many sports including football, soccer, basketball, tennis, wrestling, weightlifting, volleyball, cheerleading, swimming, cross country, and track. They also have many programs such as marching and concert band, drama, dancing and an AFJROTC unit.

Other student organizations include French, German, Spanish, Science, History, Art, and Kitty Hawk Honor Societies, Political Science Club, Interact, SADD, Key Club, Joint Student Teacher Council, Student Council, Chess Club, DCT, Straight Club, SPLASH (Students Protecting Land And Sea Habitats), KORR TV-5 News, Running Club, FBLA, Tri-M, the River Ridge Executive Council and an AFJROTC unit.[1]

News

In 2003, assistant principal Jason Joens was named principal of the Middle School.

On March 24, 2009, Jim Michaels left as principal at River Ridge to transfer to J.W. Mitchell High School, where he opened the school in 2000 as an assistant principal.[2]
